Rutgers University recognizes disability as a component of cultural diversity and fosters an inclusive environment for all members of the university community. In order to provide leadership to the University community in achieving employment, educational, programmatic and physical access for individuals with disabilities, I am pleased to announce that the Office of University Harassment Compliance & Equity (UHCE) will coordinate the university's efforts in these areas for all staff. The office will collaborate with other offices, such as Occupational Health, Labor Relations, REHS, and others, as needed, to process an individual request. Requests for accommodation from staff members on all campuses may now be brought directly to UHCE's attention on-line, and supervisors should notify this office on-line as to any on-going accommodation for record keeping purposes (both forms are available on the disabilities information page:  /uhce/ada.html>). For students, the Vice President for Student Affairs has recently hired a new Director of Student Disability Services to coordinate such services. The new office will work in conjunction with designated student life staff at the individual colleges and schools on all campuses and also with the Office of Compliance, Student Policy and Judicial Affairs, which will continue to respond to student grievances and disability compliance issues involving students, visitors and facilities.

For faculty, the Office of Academic Affairs continues to coordinate faculty disability accommodation requests.
