Re:
Appointment of the Vice President
for Information Technology
I am happy to announce that, following an extensive search
process, Michael V. McKay, Executive Director for Computing
and Information Technology, has been appointed Vice President
for Information Technology.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the
United States Military Academy and a master’s degree
in business management from Central Michigan University. Following
a distinguished twenty-two year military career, Mike assumed
the position of associate director for the Center for Computer
Aids for Industrial Productivity in 1988. Under his leadership
the center increased its membership fourfold and more than
doubled its annual budget. During his tenure at Rutgers, Mike
has held positions of increasing responsibility including
oversight of the university networks that provide high-speed
audio, video, and data for classrooms, residence halls, libraries,
and administrative facilities on all three campuses. He also
successfully managed the $98 million RUNet project.
Currently responsible for all administrative and campus computing
services and universitywide telecommunications, Mike has proved
to be an effective and resourceful manager, a well-respected
leader, and a sound advisor—just the right combination
of qualities, skills and knowledge necessary for overseeing
information technology at Rutgers.
I am confident that Mike’s leadership and dedication
to excellence will be invaluable in guiding the university
as it provides the highest level of technological support
to its students, faculty, and staff.
Please join me in congratulating Mike on his new role and
in offering him your support as he takes on this challenging
position.
